Leyla Abdullayeva: Tension in Tovuz direction was a pre-planned provocation of Armenia

July 24, Fineko/abc.az. The opinions voiced by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan are another blow to the negotiation process mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.

ABC.AZ reports that this was stated by Leyila Abdullayeva, the head of the press service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

She noted that by doing so, the Armenian Leadership wants to stop the negotiation process: "His speeches and statements made earlier show that Armenia opposes the negotiation process and demands a change in the format of negotiations. However, the format of negotiations cannot be changed. Armenia's attempts to negotiate as an occupying and aggressive state are unacceptable.

As for the principle of self-determination of peoples, which contradicts the essence of the negotiations, which Pashinyan spoke about in his speech, this is an attempt to once again violate and distort the format of the negotiations.

This position of Armenia should be regarded as an evasion from negotiations, and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs should give an appropriate assessment of this. The tension that arose on the Tovuz direction of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border was a provocation planned in advance by Armenia.

In his speech, the Armenian PM also makes unsubstantiated claims against Turkey. Turkey is a state that contributes to stability and security in the region. Turkey is a member of the OSCE Minsk Group.

It is Pashinyan and his policies that pose a threat to peace, stability and security in the region. All responsibility for the tension in the region lies personally with Pashinyan."
