Azerbaijan’s annual inflation made up 2.9%

August 12, Fineko/abc.az. The consumer price index for Jan-Jul 2020 amounted to 102.9% (versus Jan-Jul 2019), including 105.3% for foods, beverages and tobacco products, 101.3% for nonfoods, and 101.0% for paid services to the population, ABC.AZ was informed at the State Statistics Committee.

July’s CPI was 99.7% compared with the previous month and 102.7% compared with July of 2019.

In July 2020 the CPI for foods, beverages and tobacco products made up 99.3% against June and 104.6% versus July 2019.

As for separate foods a decline in prices (against June of the year) was observed for fresh fish, yogurt, sour cream, cheese, lemons, bananas, pears, cherry plums, apricots, peaches, watermelons, melons, grapes, dried fruits, walnuts, chestnuts, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, beets, carrots, onions, potatoes, fresh mushrooms, sugar, natural honey, alcoholic beverages. And an increase was mainly observed in the price of round rice, buckwheat, pasta, lamb, frozen fish, cottage cheese, eggs, margarine, apples, kiwi, herbs, garlic, lentils and tobacco products. No serious changes was observed on prices of other foods.

In July 2020 the CPI for nonfoods and paid services to the population was 100.0% against June of this year and 101.3% and 101.1%, respectively, compared with July 2019.

Over Jan-Jun of this year the CPI in Azerbaijan reached 103%.
