Azerbaijan reports rise of corn growing and harvesting for 2019

September 24, Fineco/abc.az. Azerbaijan is ongoing maize harvesting, ABC.AZ was informed at the Ministry of Agriculture.

The country sowed corn on an area of 32,800 hectares last year and on 34,600 hectares this year.

Corn production for 2019 grew by 14.4% (versus 2018) up to 283,600 tons. Over Jan-Aug 2020 the corn production amounted to 56,900 tons. The corn yield for the past year was 59.5 centners per hectare (a rise of 3.1% against 2018).
