September 28, Fineko/abc.az. The U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan has issued a statement in connection with the ongoing fighting between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the Nagorno Karabakh zone.

ABC.AZ reports that this statement is posted on the official website of the U.S. Embassy.

"The U.S. is concerned about information about large-scale military operations on the contact line around the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, which resulted in numerous losses, including civilians. We extend our condolences to the families of the dead and injured. The U.S. condemns the increase in violence in the strongest possible terms. U.S. First Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Bigan contacted Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Armenian FM Zohrap Mnatsakanyan and called on both sides to stop immediately military operations, use their existing direct links so as not to aggravate the situation, and refrain from rhetoric and actions that exacerbate tensions in the region," the statement says.
