Banks decreased sale and purchase of foreign currency in Azerbaijan last year

February 5, Fineko/abc.az. Foreign currency exchange operations decreased in Azerbaijan over the past year.

The Central Bank reports that the country’s credit institutions sold US$1.759 bn and EUR 526.78 million in 2017, a decline of 41.4% and 5.8% respectively compared with 2016.

According to the CBA, in 2017 the banks reduced the volume of purchases of foreign currency from the population. Last year the local banks purchased US$1.73 bn (decrease by 32.3%) and EUR 204.189 million (decline: 30.2%).
