Security Service warns: A criminal case initiated against war zone footage distributors

November 4, Fineko/abc.az. Despite the measures taken by the relevant governmental bodies to protect state secrets and the corresponding warnings, a number of persons using the technical capabilities of mobile phones conducted prohibited video filming in the combat zone.

ABC.AZ was informed at the State Security Service that the data was distributed about strategic and operational plans, deployment and movements, personnel and military equipment, other combat support of the Azerbaijani troops, as well as various video materials, allowing getting info about the operational situation.

These footages were used by the enemy army to obtain information about the composition and positions of Azerbaijan’s military units, as well as to carry out intelligence and provocative activities.

The Azerbaijani Security Service has initiated a criminal case under Article 284 (disclosure of state secrets) of the Criminal Code and is conducting an investigation on the case.

"We once again warn citizens that distribution of unauthorized video recordings from the zone of active hostilities entails criminal liability, and we urge them to refrain from all actions that threaten the lives of Azerbaijani servicemen," the message reads.
