Oil keeps on falling, and Brent is at $50.25 a barrel

December 22, Fineko/abc.az. The prices for oil of standard grades continue to decline in Tuesday’s trading after falling the day before amid the news of revealing a new type of coronavirus.

By 9:37 am, at the London ICE Futures Exchange the price of February’s Brent crude futures fell by $0.66 (1.3%) to $50.25 per barrel. At the end of trading on 21 December the Brent futures for February fell in price by $1.35 (2.58%) to $50.91 per barrel.

By 9:37 am, at the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) the WTI crude futures for February fell in price by $0.38 (0.79%) to $47.59 per barrel. At the end of trading on 21 December the WTI crude futures for February fell by $1.27 (2.6%) to $47.97 per barrel.

The negative impact on the market was caused by reports about the detection of a new type of coronavirus in the UK, because of which the authorities imposed the severest restrictions on the movement of residents of London and almost the entire south-east of the country. Some countries have announced the restriction or termination of transport links with the UK.
