Population's banknotes exchanged for AZN 5.4 bn

March 15, Fineko/abc.az. Last year, the Azerbaijani population's banknotes for AZN 5.4 bn were exchanged through the service cash desks established in the Central Bank.

ABC.AZ reports that at the same time, in 2020 the Central Bank identified and removed 628 counterfeit banknotes (29,523 manats) from circulation and handed them over to law enforcement agencies. This is 30% less than in 2019.

Last year there was 1 counterfeit banknote for every 425,000 paper banknotes, which is significantly lower than in international practice.
