SOCAR eyes opportunities to participate in projects in Africa

March 19, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan’s SOCAR Trading has set up a team to develop integrated LNG-to-power projects and aims to establish a carbon division this year.

ABC.AZ reports that Togrul Kocharli, chief development officer at SOCAR Trading, said about this.

According to Kocharli, SOCAR Trading intends to become one of the largest participants in this field.

The company has already been involved in one project in Malta in 2017. SOCAR Trading took an equity stake and provided the LNG for the project.

The next project will be realized at the Hambantota port in Sri Lanka. Besides, the company is going to participate in similar projects in Senegal and Mozambique.

In addition, SOCAR Trading is participating in a tender for the creation of LNG production facilities in the Coega special economic zone in South Africa.
