Russia returned 18 tons of tomatoes imported from Azerbaijan


April 9, Fineko/abc.az. The Department of the Federal Service for Veterinary & Phytosanitary Surveillance on the Republic of Dagestan has banned the import of tomatoes weighing 18 tons from Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ reports that Rosselkhoznadzor Administration on the Republic of Dagestan has controlled the import of 7,983.3 tons of fresh vegetables and fruits since the beginning of April 2021.

"During the quarantine phytosanitary control 18 tons of fresh tomatoes were not allowed to be imported from Azerbaijan," the Department said in a statement.

Samples of the products were presented to the Dagestan branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "VNIIKR" subordinated to the Service. The laboratory confirmed the fact of detection of objects quarantined for the EAEU member states - tomato moth (Tuta absoluta Povolny).
