Procedure for obtaining visas to attend European Football Championship in Azerbaijan to be simplified

April 13, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed an order on a range of measures to hold four games of the European Football Championship in Baku in the summer of 2021.

ABC.AZ reports that in compliance with the decree from 1 May to 5 July 2021 foreign citizens and stateless persons will be able to obtain a visa to Azerbaijan if they provide the following documents: an official invitation letter from the Organizing Committee for the Games in Baku and from the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA); an accreditation card or other document confirming the relevant accreditation to UEFA; a ticket to the game or a document confirming the purchase of a ticket for citizens of countries, as well as permanent residents of stateless persons in the territory of countries that are participants of the games in Baku.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has been tasked to inform UEFA and the relevant authorities of foreign countries about the possibility of obtaining e-visa "ASAN Viza" for foreign citizens and stateless persons.

The MFAA is also instructed to simplify the procedure for obtaining visas for foreign citizens who arrived in Baku in connection with the games of the European Football Championship and to inform the State Migration Service about this.

The European Championship will be held from 11 June to 11 July 2021 in 12 European cities. Group A matches (Italy, Switzerland, Turkey, Wales) will be played in Rome and Baku. Baku will host three group stage matches (Wales-Switzerland, Turkey-Wales, Switzerland-Turkey) and one quarterfinal (4 July).
