April 15, Fineko/abc.az. The Research Institute for Plant Protection & Industrial Crops of the Ministry of Agriculture will be able to create mutant cotton varieties that are resistant to diseases, drought and salinity, ABC.AZ reports with reference to the Ministry.

It was noted that this will be possible thanks to the equipment donated to the Institute on the basis of a project implemented jointly with the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Equipment worth more than EUR 150,000 will allow the development of biotechnological research and analysis at the molecular level.

At the same time, the capabilities of the DNA analysis equipment will be used since the visual assessment of the resistance of cotton varieties to adverse climatic conditions is sometimes erroneous.
