August 2, Fineko/abc.az. The process of transfer by BP Exploration (ShahDeniz) Limited of the technical operator of the South Caucasus Pipeline Trunk Line (SCTM) to SOCAR Midstream Operations, which started on 20 March 2020, was successfully completed on 1 August 2021.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) that this pipeline is one of the four segments of the Southern Gas Corridor intended for the export of natural gas from Azerbaijan through the territory of Georgia to Turkey and Europe.

According to SOCAR president Rovnag Abdullayev, after 6 years of successful commercial operation of SCTM, SOCAR will undertake the technical operation of this gas pipeline. This is another great achievement of SOCAR in managing the international gas pipeline.

"The pipeline is an important part of the Southern Gas Corridor. We’d like to thank BP for the fruitful cooperation with SOCAR in all sections of the Southern Gas Corridor," Abdullayev stated.

"We are pleased with the successful transfer of the SCTM technical operator to SOCAR. As the largest participant of the Shah Deniz and SCTM projects, we are determined to continue close cooperation with SOCAR in order to support SOCAR in implementing the new task, and we wish SOCAR great success," said Gary Jones, BP Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.
