Central Bank: Rate of e-commerce transactions grew by 40%

August 4, Fineko/abc.az. The number of e-commerce transactions in the first half of 2021 (compared with the same period of 2020) increased by 40.3% up to 43.2 million operations and the size by 35.6% up to AZN 2.4 bn.

ABC.AZ reports that this is stated in the semi-annual review of payment systems published by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

In the 1st half of 2021 the quantity of transactions carried out through the POS-terminals in economic entities doubled (versus the relevant period of 2020) up to 42.7 million operations, and the size increased by 85.3% up to AZN 1.8 bn.

The number and size of contactless payments made by POS-terminals exceeded the indicators of the 1st half of 2020 by 4.2 and 6.6 times, respectively.
