October 4, Fineko/abc.az. The liberation of Sugovushan was of great strategic importance, ABC.AZ reports citing President Ilham Aliyev as saying this in his speech during the ceremony of raising the National Flag in village Talysh and settlement Sugovushan.

"As the location of this populated locality played an important role during the war, and the fact that it was under our control gave us an advantage in our subsequent operations. Talysh village and Sugovushan settlement were liberated on the same day – 3 October 2020. Here the enemy built very powerful fortifications, organized several lines of defense. The enemy was located at all strategic heights, at the heights leading to the settlement. The Azerbaijani army showed great heroism and self-sacrifice and liberated Talysh and Sugovushan as a result of fierce battles," the president said.
