Statement: EU to support projects between Azerbaijan and Armenia

December 15, Fineko/abc.az. European Union President Charles Michel made a statement following the trilateral meeting in Brussels with President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. 

ABC.AZ reports that the statement expressed support for mine clearance efforts, for people affected by the conflict, in particular, for reconstruction. It was also underlined that the EU can provide support in the status of a consultant on the issue of demarcation and delimitation of borders. It was noted that the EU supports the development of economic cooperation in the South Caucasus region. At the same time, a proposal is being put forward to create a joint platform for economic cooperation. 

Charles Michel expressed the EU's support for the creation of communication infrastructure in the region, the opening and development of lines providing communication between the countries. It was stressed that the organization will support these projects with the help of economic and investment resources. In the statement, special attention is paid to the issue of laying a railway line. It was also noted that customs and border control on railways will be organized on the basis of the principle of reciprocity.
