January 13, Fineko/abc.az. "Today is a very significant day in the life of our country. Today, the foundation of a new wind power plant to be built in Azerbaijan is being laid in the Gulistan Palace. I cordially congratulate you and the entire Azerbaijani people on this event."

ABC.AZ informs that President Ilham Aliyev stated about this at the groundbreaking ceremony of the 240 MW Khizi-Absheron wind farm to be built in Azerbaijan by Saudi company ACWA Power.

"This station will contribute to ensuring the energy security of Azerbaijan. The creation of this plant once again shows that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the production of renewable energy," the head of state said.

“About a year ago, an executive agreement was signed between the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan and ACWA Power. In fact, a decision was made to build the station, and active work has been carried out over the past year, and today we celebrate this wonderful day together. This plant will become the largest power plant in the renewable energy sector in Azerbaijan. Its production capacity is 240 MW, and, as I’ve already said, this will contribute both to the energy security of our country and will lead to the creation of a large number of jobs," the head of state added.
