Georgian PM signs an official appeal on EU membership

March 3, Fineko/abc.az. An official appeal has been signed for Georgia to receive the status of a candidate for membership in the European Union.

ABC.AZ reports that the document was signed by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

He called this a historic day for Georgia in his address to the citizens of the country.

Garibashvili noted that the appeal is another important step towards Georgia's integration into Europe.

Georgia planned to apply for EU membership in 2024. Against the background of the events taking place in Ukraine, the neighboring country made a decision the day before about the early submission of the application.
