May 4, Fineko/abc.az. The Nobel Prize in Literature will not be awarded this year.

Reuters informs that the Swedish Academy decided to postpone the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Literature for the next year, and will award it in parallel with the awarding of the laureates for 2019.

The transfer will not affect the awarding of the Nobel Prize for achievements in other spheres.

This decision was made after several weeks of negotiations between academics and the Nobel Foundation amid a scandal involving the disclosure of the names of prize winners by husband of one of the members of the Swedish Academy. Later he was accused of sexual harassment.

In protest a number of its permanent members left the Academy, and that has led to a critical reduction of its performance. In addition, Academy’s Permanent Secretary Sara Danius has left her post as well.
