Ilham Aliyev receives CE Secretary General

April 4, Fineko/abc.az. President Ilham Aliyev has received today Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović Burić.

ABC.AZ reports that the Azerbaijani leader received the CE Secretary General. The interlocutors discussed bilateral relations and processes in the South Caucasus, the Presidential Administration’s official website says.

"During the conversation it was noted that the Action Plan between Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe for 2022-25 to be adopted in the near future envisages cooperation in a range of areas," the site says.

The country’s president also informed Pejčinović Burić about the new situation in the South Caucasus, Azerbaijan's proposals to normalize ties with Armenia, as well as the current situation in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.

"The head of state noted that the CE could play the role of a platform that would contribute to the process of strengthening trust between the two countries and the creation of an integrated region of the South Caucasus," the site informs.

In her turn, Pejčinović Burić noted that the CE is ready to play the role of a platform in the process of normalizing Armenia-Azerbaijan relations and strengthening trust between both states’ societies.

“The sides also exchanged views on other maters of mutual interest," the site says.
