WHO sounds alarm about a new virus

April 25, Fineko/abc.az. The World Health Organization (WHO) has revealed 169 cases of acute hepatitis infection of unknown origin in children in 12 countries of the world, one fatal outcome has been confirmed.

ABC.AZ reports that as of 21 April 2022 at least 169 cases of acute hepatitis of unknown origin were registered from 11 countries of the European region and one country of the American region," the WHO’s website says.

The syndrome of a new disease is acute hepatitis (inflammation of the liver) with a markedly increased level of liver enzymes. In many cases, gastrointestinal symptoms were manifested, including abdominal pain, as well as diarrhea, vomiting, preceding the development of severe acute hepatitis.
