Owners of trade facilities selling non-excised tobacco and alcohol detained in Azerbaijan

May 11, Fineko/abc.az. The Ministry of Taxes of Azerbaijan continues taking measures on revealing and seizure of unmarked or counterfeit goods in retail outlets.

The Ministry informs that similar facts have been revealed in 15 outlets these days.

"Criminal groups, involved in sales of non-excised goods, illegally imported in the country, create a wide network, organizing the system of distribution in trading networks, use booths and vehicles for sale," the Taxes Ministry said.

Another such fact was revealed in Baku, Khazar district, in a private house owned by B. Huseynov, where 40,672 boxes of unmarked tobacco products were seized.

When conducting inspection in the Sahil and Lokbatan settlements of Garadagh district and the cities of Sumgait and Khirdalan the Ministry’s employees revealed similar facts mainly in kiosks installed at the bus stops.

Checks carried out at 29 trading facilities revealed facts of storage for the purpose of selling a large batch of unmarked goods.

"Criminal cases have been initiated on the facts. The court decision was made on the detention of B. Huseynov and his partner in crime J. Ahmedov, as well as owners of trade booths H. Meykhaddinov, T. Najafov and A. Rustamov.
