May 12, Fineko/abc.az. More than 300,000 people living in the second largest city of Azerbaijan will be able to see the results of improvement of the urban environment thanks to the cooperation between the Ganja executive power and the EBRD, ABC.AZ was informed at the Ganja Mayor’s Office.
Under the signed agreements, the EBRD pledged to invest in improving the municipal solid waste collection infrastructure.
The project is part of Ganja's participation in the EBRD Green Cities program and will contribute to the development of the Green City Action Plan (YASHTP) of the city.
The EUR 10 million loan will be spent on the introduction of intelligent waste collection systems and route optimization.
New types of containers, improvements to the existing waste fleet and the introduction of more “green” vehicles will significantly reduce the carbon footprint in the city's utilities.
