May 13, Fineko/abc.az. Elon Musk has announced the suspension of the contract for the purchase of Twitter for $44 bn.

ABC.AZ reports that Musk, who is acquiring Twitter, announced on Friday that the implementation of the transaction for the purchase of the company was suspended due to the expectation of confirmation of data on the number of fake accounts in the social network of the same name.

Earlier, Musk announced on Twitter that one of his most important goals is to clean up bots.

According to the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission, if the billionaire decides to terminate the agreement, he will have to pay the company a fine of $1 bn.

$21 bn of the $44 bn deal will be paid directly by Musk. For this reason, Musk sold his Tesla shares for about $10 bn.
