Cost of banks' operations for buying and selling foreign currency in cash has decreased

May 26, Fineko/abc.az. The amount of foreign exchange transactions on the intrabank foreign exchange market amounted to $5.2 bn in dollar equivalent, ABC.AZ reports that this is stated in the Monetary Policy Review of the Central Bank.

Of them, 81.2% were transactions in US dollars and 93.9% were foreign exchange transactions with legal entities. The cost of transactions for the purchase and sale of foreign currency in cash by banks decreased by 12.5% in annual comparison and amounted to $1.2 bn in dollar equivalent. Of them, 89.7% were transactions in US dollars.

In the context of the easing of restrictions related to the pandemic, net sales of foreign currency in cash grew by 66.2% (versus the 2021 same term) due to the growth of overall economic activity.
