June 22, Fineko/abc.az. Even according to official statistics, the cost of a basket of 60 essential products and services, consisting of foods, nonfoods and services, has risen more than by 25% against the beginning of the pandemic (March 2020).

ABC.AZ reports that economics expert Rovshan Agayev wrote about this on his Facebook account.

According to Agayev, over the past 2 years the government has increased the cost of the subsistence minimum, which acts as the main standard for determining poverty and social benefits in the country, only by 10%: "In 2020, the subsistence minimum was 190 manats and currently it is 210 manats. The growth rate of prices is almost 3-fold more than the growth rate of the cost of the official subsistence minimum. And at the end of the year, official statistics, based on this subsistence minimum, will again announce the poverty figure of 5% ..."
