Ombudsman's salary to be raised in Azerbaijan

June 22, Fineko/abc.az. The salary of the Ombudsman will be increased in compliance with the amendments to the Constitutional Law of Azerbaijan.

Under the current law, the Commissioner for Human Rights receives monthly salary of 2,230 manats.

ABC.AZ reports that this issue was put up for discussion in the 1st reading at a meeting of the parliament.

When the Commissioner for Human Rights goes on vacation, he is provided with monetary security in the amount of two months' salary for treatment and rest.

With the change, the official salary of the Ombudsman will amount to 3,060 manats. In addition, the Ombudsman will be paid an additional payment to the official salary in the amount of 1.65 monthly salary.

If the amendments to the laws are adopted, they will come into force on 1 July 2022. After discussion, the draft amendments were put to the vote and adopted in the 1st reading.
