Prices of edible oils steadily rise

June 30, Fineko/abc.az. Prices for edible oils continue to rise in Azerbaijan, and mainly for vegetable oils.

ABC.AZ reports that in May 2022, the price of imported sunflower oil sold on the market increased by 5.1% month–on-month, and by 34.9% year-on-year, to 5.61 manats per liter.

Prices for sunflower oil of domestic production grew by 2.4%, and in annual comparison – by 30.3%, to 4.98 manats per liter.

Prices for corn oil imported from abroad also increased - by 6.84 manats per liter, which means an increase of 4.3% on a monthly basis and 22.3% on an annual basis. Most of the corn oil imported from abroad is sold on the market above 8 manats per liter.

The monthly price of locally produced corn increased by 1.9%, and the annual price – by 16.2% up to 6.09 manat/liter.

There is a slight slowdown in the growth of butter prices. For example, in May, 1 kg of locally produced butter averaged 18.38 manats, which is 0.4% higher than monthly and 11% higher than annual growth. Foreign-made oils rose in price by 1.8% per month and by 16.2% per year – to 19.38 manats per kg.
