February 5, Fineko/abc.az. We often come across names of stores, services, and products similar to the names of well-known store chains and brands. For example, Adidas - Abidas, Lukoil — Luxoil, Ağ çiçəyim — Ağ ləçəyim, etc. We see that the names of famous brands and stores are repeated one way or another. But do we know that this also creates legal liability?

ABC.AZ reports that lawyer Sahib Mammadov said about this in his statement, noting that this is a widespread type of business fraud in the world, for which responsibility has been established:

"The protection of trademarks registered in foreign countries, whether at the national level or at the international level, is ensured by legislation. In this regard, a number of legislative acts are also in force in Azerbaijan. Trademarks can be different. Trademarks can consist of names or letters. For example, SOCAR is a name, and the flame sign next to it is already a trademark. Or Google is also an international trademark. If someone has assigned a trademark name, used similar names, or created an artificial trademark in a combination of letters on the trademark, then first of all it should not be registered by the registration authority. Trademark names are also used in Azerbaijan and offenses are committed. They even use the names of retail chains. This creates responsibility."
