July 10, Fineko/abc.az. In May 2024, global chip sales increased by 13.9% year-on-year up to $49.15 billion.

ABC.AZ reports that according to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), May’s chip sales grew by 4.1% against April.

According to SIA, the global semiconductor market grew year-on-year during each month of 2024, and sales in May increased by the most since April 2022. The American market has seen particularly strong growth.

Sales in North and South America rose by 43.6% in May versus May 2023, in China - by 24.2%, in Asia-Pacific and other regions - by 13.8%. At that, a decrease of 9.6% was recorded in Europe, and 5.8% in Japan.

Chip sales increased by 6.5% compared with April in North and South America, by 1.6% in Japan, by 5% in China, and by 3% in the Asia-Pacific region. Meanwhile, sales in Europe dropped by 1%.

SIA represents about 99% of American representatives of the semiconductor industry and about 66% of chip manufacturers from other countries.
