August 23, Fineko/abc.az. Satellite images from environmental protection organization Kayrros have shown that approximately half a million trees were cut down during the construction of Tesla's factory in Grünheide, Germany.

ABC.AZ reports citing The Guardian that the deforestation, which took place between March 2020 and May 2023, has affected an area of about 329 hectares – equivalent to 460 football fields.

After May 2023, tree felling continued near the factory site. For instance, numerous trees had to make way for the new Fangschleuse railway station.

Antoine Halff, Kayrros' chief analyst, acknowledges that the tree cutting should be considered in the context of the benefits of replacing internal combustion engine vehicles with electric ones.
