Türkiye's tourism thrives despite high prices

August 26, Fineko/abc.az. Despite soaring inflation and constantly increasing prices, Türkiye has witnessed a record-breaking influx of tourists in July, with a staggering 7.333 million visitors, according to data from the country's Ministry of Tourism.

ABC.AZ reports that this marks a 2.6% increase compared to the same month last year.

From January to July, the country welcomed approximately 29 million travelers, an impressive 8.27% growth compared to the same period in 2023. Germany led the way, with 1.04 million tourists, followed closely by Russia with 922,294 visitors, and the United Kingdom with 660,906 travelers.

The popular resort of Antalya captured 35% of the tourist traffic, while Istanbul attracted 25%. The northwestern border province of Edirne drew 10% of visitors, the western resort of Mugla hosted 9%, and Izmir on the Aegean coast welcomed 4% of the total tourists.

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute, the country's tourism revenue reached $54.3 billion in 2023, marking a 16.9% year-on-year increase. In the same year, the country hosted 57 million tourists, including Turkish citizens living abroad, representing an 11.1% year-on-year growth.
