Toyota lowers plans on global production of electric vehicles in 2026

September 6, Fineko/abc.az. Japanese company Toyota Motor has reduced its plans on production of electric vehicles by a third in 2026 amid falling demand and weakening sales, ABC.AZ reports, referring to newspaper Nikkei.

Now the world's largest automaker intends to produce 1 million electric vehicles in 2026, whereas previously it expected to produce 1.5 million such cars.

However, even such output volumes represent an ambitious task for Toyota, which has invested much more effort in developing hybrids and sold only about 104,000 electric vehicles last year. Currently, electric vehicles account for about 1% of its total global sales.
