The Netherlands to expand export control measures for semiconductor manufacturing equipment

17:34 - 6.09.2024

September 6, Fineko/abc.az. The Dutch Government has decided to expand export controls on modern semiconductor manufacturing equipment from September 7, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Dutch authorities.

The new requirements are in addition to the measures in force from September 1, 2023, and relate to a specific technology in the semiconductor production cycle, the so-called deep ultraviolet lithographic equipment. The chips created with this equipment can play an important role in advanced military technologies, so uncontrolled exports can have consequences for the security of the Netherlands, the authorities said.

At that, the government stressed that this is not an export ban. The requirement means that when exporting this equipment, it is necessary to apply for an export license. The Cabinet Ministers will make a decision on each such application individually.
