September 10, Fineko/abc.az. The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Ali Akbar Ahmadian, has left for Russia to attend a meeting of senior officials on the security of the BRICS member countries.

ABC.AZ reports that the meeting will be held on September 20-22 in St. Petersburg with participation of the heads of the Security Councils of the participating countries Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, the UAE, Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia.

Within this summit, in addition to negotiations with BRICS members, a joint meeting will also be held with high-ranking representatives of law enforcement agencies of some southern countries, including Indonesia, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Thailand, Belarus, Vietnam, Venezuela, Uzbekistan, Nicaragua, Cuba, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Mauritania and Laos.

The two countries will discuss issues such as recent denials by the Russian Federation and Iran about Tehran's supply of ballistic missiles to Moscow, the implementation of the North-South transport corridor, the urgent issue of creating the Zangezur corridor, which is undesirable for Iran because of it, Iran recently protested to Russia and the Russian ambassador to the Iranian Foreign Affairs Ministry was summoned.

For Iran, the latter issue is very important, since Tehran opposes the redrawing of the adopted state borders. If the Zangezur corridor is implemented, Iran will be cut off from Armenia and they will cease to border. But Yerevan will remain in the blockade of Azerbaijan from the south.
