September 16, Fineko/abc.az. Western countries are putting pressure on Azerbaijan to submit to COP 29 the issue of imposing strict requirements for phasing out fossil fuels. Azerbaijan itself, as well as Russia, Saudi Arabia and Bolivia, are against it.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the Financial Times that in November at COP-29, the participants expect to agree on mechanisms and amounts of financing for projects to combat climate change, as well as from which sources it will be implemented.

Over the weekend, African governments called for more than 1 trillion pounds a year to be allocated to their climate projects.

At that, participants from Western countries will seek stricter requirements for the abandonment of hydrocarbons by 2050. The EU representative has already conveyed this position to Baku and hinted that he does not want compromises like those adopted at COP28 in Dubai.
