October 4, Fineko/abc.az. 132 kg of discarded food per year accounts the average resident of an EU country. 

ABC.AZ reports that such data is provided by Euro Puls portal with reference to Eurostat.

Just over half of this amount (72 kg) ends up in the trash at home. The rest of the food waste is generated in cafes, supermarkets and factories. The most food is thrown away in Cyprus (294 kg per person), Denmark (254) and Portugal (185). Slovenia (71), Croatia (72) and Hungary (84) were at the opposite end of the ranking.
The portal says that the EU is trying to reduce the amount of food waste in shops, restaurants and households by 30% compared to the level of 2020.
