October 4, Fineko/abc.az. The Romanian side appealed to the European Commission to deal with import of eggs and poultry meat from Ukraine.

ABC.AZ reports that the relevant initiative was made by the Minister of Agriculture of Romania, Florin Barbu. As noted, in this case, the intervention of the EC is required. He drew attention to the fact that the country's farmers are subject to certain conditions for poultry farming, which imply much higher costs compared to the costs of farmers from outside the EU.

"We are waiting for a quick decision by the European Commission, but we inform farmers that we are ready to apply the import licensing mechanism, which we’ve already successfully applied in the case of grain, sugar and flour," the minister stressed.

Earlier, Romanian poultry farmers appealed to the authorities with a request to unilaterally ban the import of poultry products from Ukraine, since dumping prices threaten the existence of Romanian poultry farms.
