October 7, Fineko/abc.az. The countries of the European Union (EU) - Italy, Greece and Bulgaria - increased gas imports from Azerbaijan by 5.5% for Jan-Jul 2024 compared with the 2023 same term - to 297,765 terajoules (TJ).
ABC.AZ reports that according to the EU Statistical Office (Eurostat), the cost of gas supplied from Azerbaijan to the EU countries reached 2.484 bn euros (a drop of 35.5%).
Over Jan-Jul 2024, 21,948 tons were delivered to Bulgaria. TJ (growth by 0.3%) for 165.524 million euros (decrease by 15.6%), to Greece - 46,436 TJ (decrease by 6.7%) for 362.014 million euros (decline by 37.5%), to Italy - 229,381 TJ (growth by 8.95%) for 1 billion 956.629 million euros (a drop by 1.6 times)
In July, the EU countries increased gas imports from Azerbaijan by 7.2% to 43,244 TJ, having allocated 398.469 million euros for these purposes (an increase of 17.5% yoy). In the structure of these supplies, Greece received 6,760 TJ for 57.373 million euros, to Bulgaria - 3,200 TJ for 24.333 million euros, to Italy - 33,284 TJ for 316.764 million euros.
In 2023, the EU countries - Italy, Greece and Bulgaria - imported gas from Azerbaijan in the amount of about 492,900 terajoules (an increase of 2.5% by 2022) for 6.2 billion euros (a decrease of 2.5 times).
Azerbaijan has gas supply contracts with 8 countries in Europe: Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia and Croatia. In 2024, Azerbaijani gas exports are projected to amount to 25 bcm, and 12.5 bcm are to be supplied to Europe.
