October 8, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan to certify halal products in four categories.
ABC.AZ reports, quoting Goshgar Tahmazli, the head of the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan (AQTA), as saying this at the Azerbaijan Halal Business & Tourism Forum in Baku.
He added that these categories cover the slaughter of cattle and small cattle, poultry, milk and dairy products, as well as processed goods.
He noted that work is currently underway to simplify the application process.
"The introduction of innovative solutions will create more comfortable conditions for food subjects. Certification, impartiality and complaints committees have been established, which play an important role in organizing the Halal certification process," Tahmazli said.
He underlined that for international recognition of HALAL certificate of conformity of the Institute of Food Safety, in accordance with the international standard established by the Institute of Standards & Metrology of Islamic Countries (SMIIC), an application was submitted to the Halal Accreditation Body of Turkey.
"As part of the accreditation activities, an audit of the certification process according to the relevant standard was initially conducted at one of the enterprises ("OIC/SMIIC-1:2019 General requirements for halal food"). In accordance with this standard, the company assessed the level and compliance of compliance with the rules of halal slaughter, food safety requirements and halal standards," Tahmazli said.
