October 8, Fineko/abc.az. The recent flow of tourists from Muslim countries necessitates the development of the halal products sector in Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ reports that Agriculture Minister Majnun Mammadov made this statement during his speech at the official opening ceremony of the Azerbaijan Halal Business & Tourism Forum (AZHAB Forum) in Baku.

He pointed out that development of entrepreneurship in the republic and broad state support for the agricultural sector lay the foundation for development of halal products and tourism.

"By organizing the processing process and forming a value chain, halal standards will increase the incomes of farmers and entrepreneurs, increase demand for agricultural products, contribute to the revival of financial markets and further growth of export potential. In order to achieve sustainable development in this area, it is necessary to assess current trends in the world, to establish production of agricultural products and food products in accordance with the challenges of today," the minister said.

Mammadov added that in order to grow high-yielding and high-quality products in agriculture, it is necessary to pay special attention to every step from the field to the table and apply an innovative approach.

"In achieving the goals in this context, the main responsibility lies with the private sector. The development of this sphere will further expand cooperation between the public and private sectors, increase employment, ensure sustainable economic development and increase the incomes of farmers and entrepreneurs," the minister stressed.
