According to the Turkish Ministry of Trade and the Turkish Exporters Council, in the period from January to September 2024, Türkiye's exports to neighboring countries - Bulgaria, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Syria and Greece - increased by 12.6% against Jan-Sept 2023, reaching $18 bn.
ABC.AZ reports that Iraq accounted for the largest volume of exports ($7.7 bn), followed by Bulgaria ($3.18 bn) and Greece ($2.48 bn). However, exports to Iran decreased by 2.3%.
The largest volume of exports to Türkiye's neighboring countries accounted for the chemical products sector. In the first 9 months of 2024, chemical goods for $2.7 bn were exported. The 2nd place is occupied by exports of cereals, legumes and oilseeds - $2.25 bn. The third most important sector was steel exports with volume of $1.5 bn. The most insignificant categories were ornamental plants ($15 million), hazelnuts ($38 million) and olives with olive oil ($44 million).
