UN declares need for ‘significant’ serious steps in field of climate

October 28, Fineko/abc.az. "The annual volume of greenhouse gas emissions has reached the highest level. Urgent steps must be taken to prevent the terrible temperature rise and get rid of the worst consequences of it," ABC.AZ informs, referring to the UN report.

The most pessimistic calculations show that global warming may exceed threshold of 3 degrees. If this scenario happens, the climate will change markedly, and the melting ice sheet will raise the water level in the seas.

Although the Paris Agreement envisages reducing global warming to limit of 1.5-2 degrees by 2030, according to the report, emissions should be reduced by 43% for maximum of 1.5 degrees and by 28% for minimum of 2 degrees. Theoretically, this indicator can be reduced even below 1.5 degrees, but in real life this is no longer possible.
