October 31, Fineko/abc.az. Shipping giant Maersk has signed a long-term agreement on the supply of biomethanol from China, taking another step towards "greening" its shipments.
ABC.AZ informs that the second largest container cargo carrier in the world after MCS Maersk, will receive biomethanol produced from Chinese waste, including fruit tree prunings, as part of a deal with Longi Green Energy Technology. Deliveries will begin in 2026, and full production capacity is expected by the end of the decade.
Maersk's agreement with Longi is another deal after agreements with Chinese biofuel developer Goldwind for the annual supply of 500,000 tons of "green" methanol.
