December 9, Fineko/abc.az. The Georgian government has approved the direct sale of gas pipelines in areas in western Georgia to Azerbaijani company Socar Gas Georgia for GEL 19.8 million.
ABC.AZ informs that the relevant order was signed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
Currently, SOCAR is the main supplier to Georgia of both natural gas and oil and petroleum products.
Speech is about privatization of 41 gas pipelines in villages of regions Imereti, Guria and Samegrelo – Zemo Svaneti.
The process is designed for 17 years, and payments according to the schedule to the state of Georgia will begin in 2032. The company will pay almost GEL 2 million a year for 10 years.
SOCAR's subsidiaries are engaged in expanding and modernizing gas distribution systems in the country, developing a network of gas stations under the SOCAR brand, and also own an oil terminal in the Georgian Black Sea port of Kulevi, through which Azerbaijani oil and petroleum products are transshipped to world markets.
