December 18, Fineko/abc.az. The drug against smallpox of monkeys NIOH-14 has successfully passed clinical trials.
ABC.AZ reports, quoting Alexander Agafonov, director general at Rospotrebnadzor center Vektor.
NIOH-14 was developed to counteract the virus of smallpox of monkeys and cowpox. The drug is available in capsule form and prevents the proliferation of viruses in the body.
According to the head of the center, it has proven its safety and is ready for use.
The course of treatment with the drug is designed for six days.
Monkey pox remains a rare but potentially dangerous disease, especially for people with weakened immune systems. Infection can be accompanied by fever, intoxication, enlarged lymph nodes and rash, and the duration of the disease in mild cases ranges from 14 to 21 days.
