January 23, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan, in line with global challenges, has also defined development of green energy as a priority. The country is not only increasing sustainability in the energy sector, but is also implementing large-scale projects to contribute to global efforts. The declaration of 2024 in Azerbaijan as the Year of Solidarity for a Green World, as well as the holding last year of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), are clear evidence of this.
ABC.AZ informs this, quoting Javid Abdullayev, the director of the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources under the Ministry of Energy.
He noted that the project in which Azerbaijan participates is an initiative providing for large-scale production and export of green energy through the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea to Europe.
“The Black Sea Cable is only part of a large project that Azerbaijan is working on, it covers Romania and Georgia. The project itself is much broader and stipulates the supply of green energy from Azerbaijan to Europe,” Abdullayev said.
