January 24, Fineko/abc.az. Armenia and the EU are holding talks about the signing of a new cooperation agenda, Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan said.

"Negotiations are underway to sign a new agenda for cooperation with the EU," ABC.AZ reports, quoting Hovhannisyan as saying this during a discussion of the law on republic's accession to the EU at a meeting of the relevant parliamentary commission.

He added that Armenia is working to ensure its interests, and issues of developing economic rapprochement with the EU can be resolved within the framework of the new cooperation agenda.

"But it's too early to talk about any specific programs," Hovhannisyan said.

He also noted that the law on Armenia's accession to the EU can help in negotiations on visa liberalization between Armenia and the EU.

On January 9, the Armenian government approved a draft law on republic's accession to the EU. As Pashinyan stated, the decision on the country's accession to the EU should be made through a national referendum.
