February 6, Fineko/abc.az. Russian gas came to Slovakia, which was cut off from the previous gas routes after Kiev refused to extend the transit contract with Gazprom through gas pipeline system Turkish Stream.

ABC.AZ informs that Vojtech Ferenc, the head of Slovak gas company SPP, made this statement to Slovak newspaper Dennik N.

Shipments began on February 1, and they are expected to double from April.

The SPP contract with Gazprom Export is valid until 2034 and the buyer does not terminate it.

The paper also reports that SPP is setting up a subsidiary in Ukraine and obtaining a gas transportation license in order to be able to transport gas from Russia.

Ferenc estimates that gas transportation via the new route will cost 90 million euros more for SPP than through Ukraine.

Turkish Stream is an export gas pipeline from Russia to Turkey via the Black Sea. The design capacity is 31.5 bcm of gas a year. It is intended for gas supplies to Turkey and the countries of Southern and Southeastern Europe in transit through Turkish territory.

The pipeline consists of two strands, each of which is capable of pumping up to 15.75 bcm of gas a year.
