Georgia imported 47% of its electricity from Azerbaijan last year

February 10, Fineko/abc.az. In 2024, Georgia purchased electricity from Azerbaijan for $10.97 million (nearly 47% of Georgia’s overall imports), ABC.AZ informs, referring to the Georgian National Statistics Service.

Last year, Tbilisi imported more than 1.2 million kWh of electricity for over $23.4 million.

Azerbaijan took the second place among the countries supplying electricity to Georgia, providing almost half of its imports - $10.97 million. Russia became the leader in terms of electricity exports to Georgia with an indicator of $12.3 million (13.7-fold more against the previous year). Turkey closed Top 3 by supplying electricity for $80,040.

Turkey has also become the main buyer of electricity exported from Georgia. In 2024, Tbilisi exported over 1.1 million kWh of electricity for more than $49 million, of which $40.2 million went to Turkey.
